Valeria Ann Marshall was born on July 12, 1973 in Rosebud, SD to Clifford and Barbara (Bordeaux) Marshall, Sr. She attended elementary in Rosebud. She later attended high school in both St. Francis and Todd County, with her best friend, Micheline Jordan. Valeria participated in basketball, volleyball, cheerleading and the drill team. In 1989, she gave birth to her first son, Travis Lee Fights Over-Williams, then moved to Sioux Falls, SD shortly after his birth. Travis was 6 months old when she moved with the family to Flandreau, SD where her mother got a job at the Royal River Casino as a security guard, working until her passing in 2006. In 1991, she gave birth to her second son, Clint Waln, in Pipestone, MN. Valeria married Charles Wasson, Sr. in 1998 and their son Charles Wasson, Jr was born in 2000, daughter Rhiannah Wasson in 2001 and son Chance Wasson in 2005.

Valeria enjoyed socializing with friends, co-workers and guests while she was employed. She worked at the Royal River Casino as a hostess in the restaurant and later as a cocktail server and bartender in the bar. She was also a manager at the First American Mart, a cook at John’s Place and BJ’s Fine Foods & Spirits, all in Flandreau. She often enjoyed going to the lake and having cookouts with the family. She also watched and supported the Denver Broncos during football season.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara; father Clifford Sr.; son Travis; nephew Patrick Ezra Makai Marshall; and sister Lynn One Star.

She is survived by stepmother Ida Marshall; sons: Clint, Charles Jr., & Chance; daughter Rhiannah; granddaughter Avah Mae Westpahl; sisters: Kate Marshall, Micheline (Boe) Jordan, Leilani (Richard) Kapule-Star, Cheyanne Marshall, Donella Marshall, Nona Marshall, Bennie Kitteaux & Lori Marshall; brothers: John Webb Marshall, Eldon (Marc)Marshall, Clifford Marshall, Jr., Owen (Summer) Marshall, Kelly Moran & Calvin (Autumn) Kapule; Harvey Marshall, Sr. & Family; and many nephews and nieces.
