Born: July 26, 1968
Journeyed to the Spirit World: August 11, 2020

Rosella Marie “Buckwee” Jones, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and grandma passed away peacefully and journeyed to the spirit world at the age of 52 on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Rosella Marie was born on July 26, 1968 in Flandreau, SD to Harry Jones, Sr. and Leona (Phelps) Kitto. Marie was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church, Flandreau. She attended Flandreau Public School where she graduated. Marie attended the Special Olympics and was passionate for coloring, Scooby Doo and Disney movies. She also loved seeing family and friends, caring for her dog, Scrappy, and was known for making people laugh or smile with her kind and compassionate spirit.

Rosella Marie is survived by her mother, Leona and stepdad Norman Kitto; sisters, Verzella (Curtis) Bauman, Trent, SD; and Lori Marks, Flandreau; brother, Richard Jones, Flandreau; 8 nieces and nephews, 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many family friends of the Oyate’s. Rosella Marie was preceded in death by her father, Harry; brother, Timothy Jones; grandfather, Wilson Kitto and great-grandparents, Mildred and Bill Weldon and Rev. Harry C. and Bessie Jones. 

Services will be 11:00 am Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Wicoicaga Otipi Community Center, Flandreau. Visitation begins at 5:00 pm Friday, August 14, 2020 with a 7:00 pm all night wake service each night.
