Born: March 6, 1967
Journeyed to the Spirit World: June 21, 2022

Randy L. Schmidt, 55, of Flandreau, SD journeyed into the spirit world on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Avera Flandreau Hospital. Randy was born March 6, 1967 at Sioux Falls, SD to Leroy and Patricia (Rederth) Schmidt. The family moved to Valley Springs, SD where Randy received his early education. They moved to Flandreau in 1976 and he graduated from Flandreau High School in 1986. He was a state champion wrestler in the 132 pound weight class his senior year of high school. Randy worked sheet rock construction, farmed for FSST for several years, worked several HVAC jobs. Randy fixed all his family and friends heating and air conditioner units. If someone needed help, Randy always would. He had big shoulders and had no problem carrying anyone or anything for any reason. He loved everyone and had no problem showing or telling them so whether it was in helping you with his actions or words of advice. He like to try his luck gambling at all the different casinos and was very successful doing it. Randy was a sun dancer and was given a bone whistle.  

Randy is survived by his parents, Leroy and Pat; sister Patsy (Troy) Mulroy, two brothers, Art (Kim) Schmidt and Daniel Schmidt (Samuel), all of Flandreau; daughters, Angie, Jenny, Cheryl, Julia; grandchildren, Tia, Taylor, Hannah, Sopi, Brian, Lola, Alex, Osiris, Jordan, Dylon, Ryder, Manny, Prophet, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Trixie. Randy was preceded in death by his sister Sheila, wife Cynthia, grandson Tyler and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Eastman Hall, Flandreau, with burial at First Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation begins 4:00 pm Thursday at Eastman Hall with two evenings of wake services beginning at 7:00 pm each night.
