Born: March 13, 1936
Journeyed to the Spirit World: July 2, 2019

Charlotte J. Lovejoy, 83, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Flandreau. Charlotte was born March 13, 1936 at Wessington, SD, to Forrest and Della Mae (Sutton) Lovejoy. They moved to Flandreau when she was a young girl and she attended Flandreau Public School, graduating in 1954. Charlotte was married and lived in Luverne, MN. She returned to Flandreau in 1983 where she continued to make her home. She worked at the Bingo Hall and cared for many people’s children. Charlotte was a member of St. Mary’s & Blessed Redeemer Episcopal Church and the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. She enjoyed Bingo, reading books, watching old movies and babysitting children.

Charlotte is survived by four daughters, Audrey (Sievert) Aning, Luverne, MN; Deb (John) Benson, Rush City, MN; Brenda (Jim) Cochran, Flandreau; Charleen (Fred) Cain, Flandreau; 10 grandchildren, Jesse, Chris, Dustin, Amanda, Derrick, Jenny, Jason, Stephen, Paige and Tyler; 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and six siblings, Barb Balbach, Waterford, CA; Sharon (Ben) Maras, Larry Lovejoy, Ardetta Lovejoy and Jackie Barse, all of Flandreau; and Tammy Lovejoy, Sioux Falls. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Della; two brothers, Forrest and Gary and two sisters, Diane and Della Sue.  

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in the First Presbyterian Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at the chapel.
