    Arlington3Members:

Our members are Native American Veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Granada and Desert Storm. Our members represent not only the Veterans of Wakpa Ipaksan (Flandreau, SD Area) but from many different Native Nations throughout the United States.

    Duties:

Our members participate in a variety of activities throughout the year. As the Color Guard, we perform a variety of duties such as honoring our fellow Veterans at their Funeral Services, Memorials and the Opening of General Council Sessions. In addition, the Lodge participates in a variety of community gatherings and events, such as school Wacipis (Pow wow), Annual Dakota Wacipi’s, intertribal conferences, and other veteran functions.

    Arlington2EAGLE STAFF OF THE 38:

The Gordon Weston Lodge was given the honor to care for an Eagle Staff that represents the 38 Bdewankantonwan’s that were executed at Mankato, Minnesota on December 26, 1862, shortly after the Minnesota Uprising.  The Eagle Staff was presented to the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe by the Lower Sioux Tribe of Morton, Minnesota in 1998 and represents the struggle of the Indian people to survive.  It was given to the Lodge to be carried by the family of Ernest Wabasha who was one of the hereditary Chiefs of the Bdewankantonwan Tribes.  The Eagle Staff is carried by the Color Guard at all Wacipis and functions.
