The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal members were invited to a Tribal Dinner and Entertainment at the Royal Room, Royal River Casino on Thursday, October 1st, 2015. This year was the 25th Anniversary of the Royal River Casino opening.
The doors opened at 5 pm for appetizers and social time. There was a huge assortment of appetizers: meat and cheese tray, beacon cheddar potato skins, meatballs in demi-glaze, jumbo shrimp cocktail, vine ripened tomatoes with scallions, mozzarella sticks and a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit. At 5:45 pm David Ross gave the Welcome address and Sid Byrd, Tribal elder gave the prayer.
Dinner was from 6 pm to 7pm. The meal was Smoked Brisket, Smoked Ribs, Shrimp Scampi, baby red potatoes, stuffing, garden fresh roasted veggies, tossed salad and assorted breads and butter. There was a Kids Buffet of chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, and buttered corn. The beverages was fruit punch fountain, water and coffee. The desserts were brownies, cookies and pies.
Tribal members signed in at the door and received a gift from the Tribe of a Native American design fleece blanket. The children received a back pack with the Royal River Casino emblem on it.
The entertainment started at 7 pm and was the “Dueling Pianos” and comedy hour.
Many thanks to the FSST Executive Committee and the Casino staff for the meal and gifts and for treating us to an evening out for dinner and entertainment. The Tribal children enjoyed it too and loved the food. Pidamaya! – To our elected officials and dedicated casino staff!
